Refugee Crisis

The Sutton Park Circuit of which we are part is looking at ways to help with the desperate refugee crisis in Europe. The latest developments, with people trying to cross the English Channel in small boats at the height of winter have only made this even more urgent with the arrival of many unaccompanied minors.

If you feel the same and you want to be a part of our efforts, please get in touch with us at the office.

We have lobbied our Government and you might add your voice too. This is a whole world problem, and it needs the whole world to act.

We have raised funds to help support Methodist Church partners working with displaced families in Europe and in and around the world's most troubled countries. Keep a watch out for periodic fundraising events if you would like to support them.

We collect clothing and furniture to help struggling families. From time to time we will publish requests for help with particular items, or with the needs of particular families who may be living locally to us. If at any time though you have items that you think might be of use you can always contact: itemsforrefugees@gmail.com

We contribute our skills.  Refugees recently arrived in the UK have many needs.  There are countless ways you too may be able to help meet those needs from legal advice to befriending to helping with accommodation.  You can email offers of help to itemsforrefugees@gmail.com

Please pray with us

Almighty and merciful God, whose Son became a refugee and had no place to call his own, look with mercy on those today who are fleeing from danger, those who are homeless and hungry.

Bless those who work to bring them relief.

Inspire generosity and compassion in all our hearts, and guide the nations of the world towards that day when all will rejoice in your Kingdom of justice and peace.

Through Jesus Christ our Lord

Amen

Heavenly Father, you are the source of all goodness, generosity and love.

We thank you for opening the hearts of many to those who are fleeing for their lives.

Help us now to open our arms in welcome, and reach out our hands in support, that the desperate may find new hope, and lives torn apart be restored.

We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord, who fled persecution at His birth and at His last triumphed over death.

Amen
