What is Sunday Spice?

Sunday Spice is a service held every month on the second Sunday evening, usually at Kingstanding Church.  Everyone in the circuit is invited, whether or not their own local church has a service that evening.  It offers a lively mix of alternative worship styles.

Recent monthly services have followed a theme to be carried on for the next few months examining the fundamentals of our Methodist tradition.

Why not try it out!

The next Sunday Spice is on 12June at 7.00 pm

Fellowship Meal

Thursday 30 June at 7.45 pm

Hurry to get your ticket (price £7.00) via the office or from Stewards in church so you can join us for this evening of fellowship.  Our speaker will be the talented Andi Markham of Kids UK.

Andi's charm and enthusiasm for his faith have already made him a firm favourite with many at Four Oaks and tickets are sure to go quickly.  The evening mainly has adults in mind but children are welcome of course - Andi has delighted Sunday Club with his ventriloquism.

Make a date to enjoy fun and fellowship with friends from all the churches in Four Oaks in the grounds of All Saints Church in Belwell Lane (or inside if the weather is wet).

Andi Markham and friends will be there!

The FOMC Walking Group

The next outing for the Walking Group is on Saturday 18 June.  We'll be aiming for a pleasant walk of around 8 miles starting from Church Stretton East Hope Car Park
(post code SY6 6BL).  That's the same starting point as our April walk, but we'll take a different route.

Please get in touch with Anne through the office if you would like directions, encouragement or to arrange a lift.

You'll need a drink, boots and waterproofs, and a packed lunch to keep you going.

Lifts can be arranged.

And for your diary, note these provisional dates

Saturday 9 July - the next walk

Tuesday 16 August - The Mary Jones Walk

(see below for more information)

Everyone is welcome to join us.

Greater than Gold

A story of devotion to the Bible

In November Four Oaks and Falcon Lodge Churches will be producing a version of Roger Jones' musical Greater than Gold, the story of Mary Jones whose long walk across bleak countryside to buy a Bible in Welsh inspired the founding of the British and Foreign Bible Society.

If you came to the information evening on 17 May and were inspired, or you wish you had been there and want to know more about it get in touch with the office for more information.

Mary Jones Walk

On 16 August, the stalwarts of the Walking Group will be leading a group from church along the last part of Mary Jones' route to Bala to buy herself a Bible.  Don't worry, our walk will only be 7 miles or so, far shorter than Mary's and nobody will be making the trip barefoot and hungry!

There will be more details to follow but if you are interested in joining the party you can get in touch with Anne via the office.  We need to get an idea of numbers as soon as possible

The cost for the coach should work out to be around £15 per person.  There will be an opportunity for people who want to share the fellowship of the day out without the 7 mile walk to make their way to Bala by steam train instead.
